The Multicompany Setup
(Financial Controller only)
These options are only applicable if you have a Sage Multicompany Licence . Sage Line 50 lets you set up different companies. You can run each set of company data independently and you can produce financial reports for each one separately. Alternatively you can merge the data from all or selected companies into a single parent company file to produce one set of financial accounts that represents the group as a whole.
As you create new companies, the data files relating to each new company are stored in their own subdirectory on the hard disk of the computer. These subdirectories are independent from the one you have created when you first installed Sage Line 50. When you create a second company, you are given the opportunity to specify the name of the directory in which that companyÆs data should be stored. Each companyÆs data files are maintained in separate subdirectories.
For example: the first company would have the following structure:
C:\Program Files\Line50\accdata
\bitmap
\criteria
\defaults
\invoices
\journals
\labels
\layouts
\letters
\memo
\ODBC16
\ODBC32
\reports
\template
The second company would have the following structure:
C:\Program Files\line50\company1\accdata
\bitmap
\defaults
\criteria
\fax
\invoices
\journals
\labels
\layouts
\letters
\memo
\template
In the above example, the company directory created when Sage Line 50 was installed is the default, C:\PROGRAM FILES\LINE50. The subdirectories of this company directory are created automatically and used to store the data files, letters, document designs, etc. You cannot change the names of these subdirectories.
A second set of data files for the second company has been stored in subdirectories of a directory called C:\PROGRAM FILES\LINE50\COMPANY1. You can specify any name for this directory, but like the first company, its subdirectories for data, layouts, etc. are automatically created by Sage Line 50. The directories created for other companies do not include program files. The only directory that contains the Sage Line 50 programs is the directory of the first company you installed, i.e. C:\PROGRAM FILES\LINE50.
If you save each report that you create in Sage Line 50 into your C:\PROGRAM FILES\LINE50\REPORTS subdirectory, you can run any of these reports from any of your companies.
To use a stationery layout you have created in another company, copy it into the appropriate companyÆs layout subdirectory.
